In addition to skin-lightening effects, kojic acid also contains some antimicrobial properties. It may helpfight off several common types of bacterial strainseven in small dilutions. This can help treat acne caused by bacteria in the skin. It may also lighten scars from acne that haven’t faded yet.
If soap containing kojic acid is used regularly, it may help prevent both bacterial and fungal infections on the body.
What is turmeric good for?
Brown explains that the active ingredient in turmeric is a natural compound (polyphenol) calledcurcumin, which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
“Curcumin has many biological activities, not all of which are understood,” Brown says. “Like other colorful plant-based foods, turmeric is rich in phytonutrients that may protect the body by neutralizing free radicals (pollution, sunlight) and shielding the cells from damage.” Diets rich in plant-based foods are associated with prevention of medical conditions such as cancer and heart disease.
Brown says, “Anyone who’s trying to manage inflammation could benefit from adding some turmeric to their foods.” She cites inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and other joint disorders, colitis, allergies and infections.
Science Behind Turmeric
Turmeric and its components, including curcumin, have been the subject of scientific studies.
“Some research results show that people who have osteoarthritis reported less joint pain when eating turmeric in recipes,” Brown says. “Turmeric’s effect on mood disorders, depression and dementia have also been explored, but studies are small, so more research will reveal if there is a benefit.”
10 turmeric skin benefits
Here are 10 potential benefits of using turmeric, whether as the raw spice, or included in soaps, lotions, masks, and other beauty products:
Helps brighten dark spots Dark spots and dark under-eye circles are very normal but can be difficult to get rid of. Turmeric helps brighten skin and the appearance of uneven tone, leaving you with clearer skin.
Helps heal skin wounds Your skin wounds may heal a lot quicker when you wash with turmeric soap. The anti-inflammatory properties decrease the skin’s inflammation; and speed up the skin’s ability to form new tissue.
Helps with some skin conditions If you suffer with psoriasis, skincare experts have suggested that turmeric can help by killing off bacteria that inflames the skin.
Helps reduce blemishes Turmeric soap and facial products, such as masks, can help curb bacteria that causes acne. By reducing the skin’s inflammation, it can help heal the skin.
Helps fade skin scars If you have struggled with acne and you’re left with scars, try a DIY turmeric face mask. The skin-brightening agents can brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of scars.
Brings out the glow Besides the fact that turmeric is naturally gold, it can help bring out your natural glow. By reducing dark spots and hyperpigmentation, your skin looks naturally even and radiant.
Anti-aging properties After a certain age, our bodies stop producing collagen. Curcumin found in turmeric can stimulate collagen production, making your skin appear more youthful.
Moisturises dry skin Using lotions, oils or soaps with turmeric can pack the moisture back into your skin. Make sure to use it on your skin at least once a day to reap the benefits.
Helps treat stretch marks Studies have shown that turmeric can also be used to help treat the appearance of stretch marks. If you’ve been wanting to make a change from tissue oil, now you can.
Helps protect against environmental damage Turmeric contains lots of antioxidants that help combat the damaging effects of pollution, sun exposure and other unwelcome environmental irritants.
They always leak all over my package and I get ignored by customer service for any help. Their sales are a scam too. Never got my products in my order like adverted during their sale
